Default Long time reader, new poster need help dual manifold?

Last spring I was lucky enough to aquire a 91 Golf 1.8 8v, standard, 2 door off of an elderly lady with only 78,000kms on it. (I live in Canada). Anyway It is a second vehicle to me but a great vehicle and my second VDub. My other one was a 2001 Jetta 1.8T GLS. (I miss that car).
Anyway. I just got back from the muffler shop as there is a bit of a leak around the manifold somewhere, and it turns out it is right at the block and manifold. So it has to come off but the studds are very rusty so it is going to cost quite a bit. Also from sitting a lot the manifold is quite rusty as well. So I read on here that there is someway to put a dual outlet manifold and downpipe off of another motor on this which will boost the HP's a little? I am going to call the local junk yards anyway just so I know what is around in case mine isn't any good. What car would the dual one be off of and what year? Also what years will fit it for a stock one? Thanks for your help. I am sure I will be reading and posting quite a bit from here on out. Thanks,

Fred

Try later Jettas. Usually GLIs and most Jettas after about '88.

So does the GLI 1.8 jetta have the dual downpipe and manifold? Or is it just the same as my stock one?

get one off either a 8v gti and i don't know if any golfs came with it. my jetta wolfs did. so check those out. my 90 gl did not. it is probably easier just to pull off the head and get off the manifold and replace the studs. it's alot easier working on it on the bench then trying to do it in the car.
