Default my 1990 jetta carat

so yeh i was pondering this ALL DAY!

I am going to build the jetta carat up.

things i need to know first:

How do the back seats fold down or come out?
How do i get the rear door off if the handle is broke and the inside handle doesn't?
Should i do big bumpers or not currently have small..?
Also. would polished tear drops look good?

i think thats it for now i will post some pics later!

Lol, I told you so Okay first the back seats DO NOT fold down. You'll see a center armrest that folds down, if its still there there is a black plastic piece in behind the armrest with four nuts, take them off then pull the plastic piece out. Then all you do is pull upwards and the seat comes out! For the door it sounds like you'll have to remove the door panel to get inside the door to open it. Do you need to know how to take the door panel off? I'd go with big bumpers only if you go with some single round headlights or Rallye lights, I don't think the areo headlights look as good on big-bumpered cars as they do with the small bumpers or you could go with a Westy set-up like I got ...just my opinion I think with the right styling polished teardrops would look good.

haha wondering how long it would take you guys and who to catch that.

i basically got a deal from a local guy on the carat 200 bucks and runs and is in decent shap so i am going to use the other mk2 golf to part out and use for some parts (example: Hood and Driver fender and big moldings and tear drops now rear door if i can get it off!)

so Mike: the seats pull out or up towards roof? after i take the 4 screws out?

i will take pics tonight

Okay if your careful you might get away with only minimal damage to the panel. Okay take off the trim piece that goes around the door pull(I believe it slides foward)next take the center trim piece off of the grab handle(use a small flathead screwwdriver to pry it up)there are two phillips screws that hold that on. Remove the window crank if you have one(remove the trim piece and there is a phillips screw again pry up the trim piece with a small flathead)now on either end of your door panel there are four phillips screws(two on either end)you'll need to remove them. Just open another one of your doors and you'll see where they are. To get the ones in the back just remove the upper part of the back seat(like I mentioned in previous post)and you can access the two screws on the back part of the door panel. For the two on the front you need to remove your b-pillar trim and pull away the weather stripping and you MIGHT be able to get to them. If not you'll just have to pull the panel off with force, it'll mess up the area around the screws but if your careful the damage will be minimal Good luck I had to do this too.
