Default new to site a few questions

i have a 98 vw golf gl its i didnt like it at first but now that i went though and fixed it i love it the only thing i dont like about it is lack of power is what is the esayest cheapest way to get some more power out of my 2.0 motar
also i am having a small coolent problem its burning a lil bit and i cant figure out why the head and head gaskit are fine does anyone know anything that could help me with this i would be a very happy vw owner

You want to post this in the Mk3 section - for 1993 - 1999.

The motor you have is usually referred to as the "2-point-slow". It's VW's good old reliable workhorse. Having said that, you can get a bit more power with the usual things - upgraded cam, intake/exhaust, et cetera but it depends on how much you want to spend.

If you're looking for big HP gains and are willing to put some coin into it then replacing the motor with a turbo or VR6 is your best option.
