will it be ok because if your battery makes more amps of volts or something than ur alternator it will blow the alternator so i need to know what model to get..ive seen them in dubs and i know theres one that will fit i just dont know which
Far as i know, one 12v is the same as another 12v so i don't think it can over juice the alt when it is same same power as the OEM battery, I could be wrong, im looking into it now Shane
Well, you didn't really specify, but if you are diesel, 650-700 is minimum Cold Cranking Amps. 850 is recommended. I'm running 1000, and extremely happy they way it cranks over in -24 degree Celcius temps. I get a good 25 cranks before i notice the engine turning over a bit slower.
So #1, are you diesel or gas, #2, where do you live (cold or hot climate), and #3, what condition is your engine in.
I have a toasted engine with burn rings. The compression is almost half of the spec. So, in cold weather, i have to crank it over maybe 20-30 times to start the car. a 700 amp battery was not good enough.
Peraining to the comment about those new weird batteries, ... well.. not tried test and true products aren't usually the way to go. Also, Marine batteries give high Cranking Amps, and not crazy Cold ones. Also they run on a Deep Cycle charge system.. which runs into your electrical thing.. i'm really not sure if it will cause a problem or not.
I hope this helps.
Steve.
