they do NOT have to be flashed. mk4's do. you have a mk3. at least i hope you do or else posting in here would be useless.
I do have an mk3 so all i have to do is buy one and put it in i thought the chip had to be tuned by some company but you have to send your computer to be tuned and then they send it back
maybe with some rip off company. giac, autotech, techtonics, neuspeed all sell chips that they mail to you and you put in yourself. i did my giac on my old vr myself. there is no "tuning", its not a dyno. its not as complicated as a mk4 or a turbo car that requires custom tuning.

You can't expect him to do any research....he wants it spoon fed of course
See this guys knows what im talking about i want it spoon feed. I have done lots of research but I was asking cause this is a forum is it not. I thought you asked questions on forums but im just a total jack ass I guess.
when you say tuned what do you mean? for instance do you have a bigger cam and your lookin to change your cam timing a little bit for more top end or bottom end. There is really not to much to tune on the 2.0 unless your running a real wild setup. How about you let us know what you have done to your car first so we can help you out
I have nothing done to it yet i want some low end tunning i want a ecu first to start and a cold air intake but im not sure which companys have the best bang for my buck or which are just scams
Ok here is the run down. I would starts off with siwss cheesing your air box. Which means on the lower portion of your stock air box drill drill lots of holes towards the front of the box and fender side (3/4 wood hole bit). Then drop a K&N air filter in it. Then I would do a exhaust, I am a big fan of techtonics there exhausts sound amazing and look clean. Then you can do a bunch of things like a cam, under drive pulleys and what not. Then you get a custom burnt chip done for your setup. Dont do a chip first
ok thanks for all the advice thats good to know not to do the chip till last but for an exhaust one of my buddies has a audi shop he will build me a custom exhaust from the motor back for about $400 so maybe ill start with the exhaust system and for an air system i want a cold air intake system
