94 golf III 2.0 trans oil

94 golf 2.0. 5 speed. Was wondering what the trans calls for and how much of it?, can you run gear oil or does it require something thinner

my haynes manual says to use 75w90 gear oil and i think it takes 2 quarts if i remember right
