95 Jetta hard start

I think it might be the ignition switch, but there could be another factor.

I have to jiggle the key to get the car to start when I turn the ignition over, and if I dont give it any gas, it will instantly die.

I have to hold the key in the start position and hold the gas to the floor in order for it to stay running?

It will blow a small puff of white smoke, then stay running after doing all this.

Leaky head gasket? thats just a random guess though.

My Golf 93 is making the same thing. Sometime, not alway's I have to keep the starter turning will giving gas to start it. I am not sure what to change anymore. I already one year ago : Plugs, wires, distributor cap, batery.
