Default car stalls when cold. rough idle with maf plugged in.

I just bought a 1995 golf 8v and I have to give it gas when it's cold to keep it from stalling. The previous owner said it was because the maf was bad so he had been running it with it unplugged. I tried replacing the maf and plugged it in and the car stalled right away. So I unplugged the maf and started the car again and it ran fine. Turned it back off and plugged in the brand new maf and it stalled again. Any suggestions?

Start with a Sea Foam clean.

Then check for cracks in vacuum lines, you can do this by getting a cigar, and blowing smoke in to random vacuum lines.... If you see smoke somewhere, that's your leak. These bastards don't run right if ANYTHING is wrong with vacuum.
