Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, seems popular so I hope it will help me out!
I have recently purchased a used '94 jetta gl and have just done an oil change. If it were my guess, I would imagine the previous oil was conventional. I have read on many forums that it is ok to switch to synthetic oil with no problems. I did just this. Does anyone have any comments? Was this a bad idea? I was planning on using it for a couple of weeks then changing the oil again, that's what some guy that works at a shop said I should do because he did not think it was a good idea to mix the two types. I want to also ask about the preferred brand. My friend said Mobil 1 is a good brand so I got the high mileage 10w-30 oil from them. I have a regular Fram Extra Life oil filter. |

Get a mobil 1 or K&N oil filter too. or just grab one from the dealer. You're paying extra for the oil so don't get a cheap filter.
you should be alright without having to do the extra oil change but you'll probably feel better if you do and it might be good to flush the engine a bit more. |
