Default Door Handle Replacement

I replaced my passenger side door latch the other day and as I was putting the handle back in, a part on the handle snapped off. It's #7 in this picture: http://www.vwdiscountparts.com/schematics/9/9270480.gif

I figure I need to replace the handle (as this part doesn't look replaceable by itself). My question is, do I need to get new keys and everything to go with my new handle? Will I also need to replace the driver's side door handle to match the new keys?

I'm a total noob when it comes to lock stuff, so pardon the stupidity .

No reason to make the driver side match passenger side.
How often do you actually need to unlock the passenger side?

I like to let my wife in the car, so quite a lot.

Go the vw dealership and they should be able to match your key with a new tumbler. I think. If not just buy a new door handle, it will come with a key. And just use two keys, kind of a pain but its what i do. I dont mind.
