GTI VR6 Buying Question??

Looking at buying a GTI VR6 and i am new the the vw scene. I have owned a bunch of 3 series bimmers i have always wanted a VR6. Just sold the 325ix so i am in the market... do all VR6's have timing chains? Is there any year that would have a timing belt? i was looking at a 1995.. it has 154K on it.. seems to run and drive really well just a little bit of rust here and there the windows dont seem to work well drivers side doesnt go down and passengers had some trouble.. is that an expensive fix? seems to be a common thing to go wrong ..nothing that cant be fixed.. anything i should look for? THANKS! also is there a rough price range i would be looking at?

95 with 150k and broken window regulators and rust shouldnt be more then like 2500. Find a solid car, check the vwvortex.com classifides for some cars, but keep the questions to here. They aren;t to kind to new people over there.

find a good one, take your time and look... i found a 95 gti VR with 85K, and the clear coat is all messed up on the hood and roof. the trans also made a noise but another trans was included.. all that for under 2500

i bought that 95 VR6 needs a bit here and there but it is a RAD car i love it! thanks for the input people
