I read through old posts looking for instuctions to mount the rear lights and didn't see any... So I I figured I'd do it...
First it's easier than it looks. Starting with the inner lights... 1. Remove rear license plate and 2 small tag lights. 2. Remove the 3 other screws that were hidden by the license plate (2 easily visible and one up between where the tag lights were on the valance panel. 3. Pop the trunk and remove the just the corner edges (2 on each side plastic screws total on the tunk lid corners) of the upper carpet and disconnect the wiring. 4. Remove 3 retaining nuts on both the inner light assemblies. Two access holes will allow a 5/16 on an extension through to access the nuts. The third one is easily reached without any wrist yoga. 5. Carefully pry the black plastic center piece by placing pressure against the back of one of the light assemblies and then the other. The two center tail lights and black valance panel will come off as one piece. You may need to apply a little pressure as the black trim is glued into place as well as being secured with screws. 6. Lay the old unit on the grass (or whatever) and swap out new pieces for old. There will only be 4 nuts holding the assemblies in place. 7. Now assemble in reverse. The outer lights are very straight forward.... 8. Pull back el cheapo carpet and disconnect wires. 9. Remove 3 retaining nuts with your trusty 5/16 socket and push out the old lights and then slip on the new ones in reverse fashion. 10. Re-connect wiring and put capeting back. 11. Sip the beer you have been ignoring for the last 20 minutes and test out all of the lights. 12. Stand back and marvel at how much better the Hella's look than the stock orange/red lights.
