hey fellow vee dubbers, just got a 94 golf in decent (i think so far ) shape, got a couple of questions so i figuered i would join here!ok first thing,i believe i have a factory alarm and i have no idea how it works? any info would be great on this ! thanks few more ?'s to post after this!
Yes these have factory alarm. The alarm will go off if you unlock one door and not all four and you open the door. (Say for instance you pull the door pin on the drivers door through the window and open the door, the alarm will sound). Also the trunk will set off alarm if opened while car is locked. And if you lift the hood from shut position while car is locked alarm will sound. (I am sure there are others). To disarm the alarm turn the key in the door lock to unlock position then back to lock position and it will go off.
It is a very effective alarm and is pretty secure. It tends to have some glitches here and there.

use your key in the door lock. lock the door with the key and it will arm the alarm. unlock with the lock to disarm.
all locks including the trunk will disarm it.
