Default A little help with purchasing rims

Hey guys, I just recently bought my first car which is a 97 Golf. I don't really know much about what are good brands for rims and that sort of thing. I am considering buying these 17" OZ Volcanos from this a guy at some other VW forum. Here's a pic...

http://www.fototime.com/%7B68B22977-...7D/picture.JPG

I've heard many of you mention that 17" is a little too much for an MK3, but why is that exactly? Where I live, the roads are pretty crappy, I know that's one good reason.

Also does anyone know how much these particular rims retail for?

I think they look good
17's with a lip are always nice on a MK3

16's of those would look pretty sweet in my opinion. the 17s mite be a rough ride on shitty road surfaces.

Those are going to look reall nice on your golf... I have 17's on mine and well it is alittle rougher but its really all up to what you want. I Have seen a few people with them and have never disliked how the car looked with them. So you made a good choice, hope you enjoy them man.

Thanks for the replies guys. Would $650 shipped be considered a deal on these particular rims?

Not a bad price. It usualy cost about $30 a wheel to ship so in turn you are paying like $530 four all 4 with tires

By looking at the pic, you'll probably have to get new tires. Looks like 3 tires are the same and the 4th has a different tread pattern

Mismatched tires = loud tire noise = uneven wear = trouble!!!

Won't be that much of an issue. Great for burnouts

Kumho Ecsta vs. Yokohama Paradas. Buy another Parada.

As long as you have a nice drop, aka enough rakeage, and the wheels are spaced even with the fenders, then those wheels are hot.

It's black. I'm gonna get a paint job come spring, but I'll probably stick with black though.

Definately stick with the same color. That way you dont have to paint your engine bay or your door jams.
