I'll tell u a few things since i wasn't really sure when i bought my jetta. get a 5 spd, avoid power windows, and make sure there are no leaks near the sunroof. A wolfsburg is an option. The car is made in germany and generally has a few GLX options without the VR6. If i had the choice between a Wolfsburg and a GL or GLs i'd take the Wolfsburg anyday. If you can find a Jetta with a VR6 scoop that ish up!

As stated above, the Wolfsburg is an option, but it is not built in Germany. They are all made in Mexico. If you want more power go with a VR6 or GLX. If you want the better gas mileage and low HP, get a 2.0L.

Good Luck with the purchase.

MK3 Wolfsburg Edition Jettas are NOT made in Germany!! If anyone doesn't believe me meet me somewhere with one and I will prove it to you. I have won numerous bets with VW sales people on this subject. Look at the VIN, if the first letter/number is a "W" then the car was produced in Germany. If the first letter/number is a "3" then Mexico is the point of origin. I believe that the only MK3s that were produced in Germany were some VR6s.

EASY!!!! Well alright, I am pretty damn sure that they are supposed to be from Germany, sense they are Wolfsburg Edition. But we could be wrong, which I highly doubt. But you never know. But as far as other Mk3's, yes they come from the land of tacos; Mexico. I mean I could look into this with alot more detail if I truly cared, and find out the answer. But I dont, so I will let this be settled by you guys that care. All I care about that it was designed by Germans, was inspired by Germans, and has German Engineering. Its like Harley Davidson, they are made, and designed, engineered by them; but they are put together in Japan.

And this is why you ask someone that has one. Hecho in Mexico. It is an option package, not a country of origin. Go back to the earlier models to get a German Wolfsburg car.

In general:

Jetta
1979-1992, 1994 GLX and a few GLs - Germany
1987-1989 (certain models) - USA
1993-2005 - Mexico
2001-2005 (wagon) - Germany

Rabbit
1975-1978 (1979 Diesel) - Germany
1979-1984 - USA

Golf
1985-1989 - USA
1989-1999 - Mexico
1999-2001 (certain models) - Germany
2000-2005 Brazil

Cabriolet
All - Germany

Scirocco
All - Germany

Wolfsbergs usually had nicer interior... but on some cars, such as MK2s, the Wolfsberg emblems were all they had to cover up the european fender marker holes... and everyone thinks they mean something. Kind of like Karmann badges on Cabriolets. It's not a Karmann edition... it's the factory that produced every VW and Porsche convertable since the begining of time.
