Default mk4 intake manifold on a mk3

i was reading a post on the oL dub forum about rebuilding a head and somone said the cheapest mod would be to put a 99 intake manifold on say a 96 . so i asked what's the difference ?
well the air intake n throttle body is on the right ...
looks a bit longer ...
not realy much different

here is where im stuck at ..is this swap for better ,wores,or just looks...

i was checking out vortex forums and saw a few people with lost power with a mk4 intake manifold on theire mk3

It's minimal gain from what I get. Most that have done it had other upgrades along with it . No acctual hard info. With the cost in volved you would be better spending money else where. ITB's tuned right work an look alot better.
