Default Is my new serpentine belt supposed to be smoking?

is my new serpentine belt supposed to be smoking?
i barely installed it, and to my knowledge i did it the right way, however there is a slight amount of smoke coming out of it, because the rubbers are touching am i doing it wrong?\

Do you have the diagram for your engine? If not, find one and follow it exactly as something may be out of alignment.

Obviously its not supposed to smoke, make sure it's all lined up and that its not rubbing anything. Also check seized pulleys and that its routed correctly.

Yes, check for a seized pulley.I forgot about that.

I had this problem once and it turned out that the tensioner pulley was bad so the belt was sliding across it at an angle. Don't know if that'd be your problem but its worth checking.

what kinda motor? vr6,2.0 gas or 1.9 diesel??

its a 2.0 gas. no a/c yet.

im so confused now, cuz ive tried a bunch of bands and none seems to fit, and the last one that appeared to fit it got destroid into bits, i dont know if im not placing it correctly or if im missing something..
