Default Should I Buy It??

Hey everyone I'm looking at a 98 GTI VR6. It's got 51K on it for 9700. What do you think? As far as I can tell, it's clean. Going for a test drive today.....

It's not a bad price, but I have seen the same go for $1500-2000 less on occasion.

You might be able to talk them down a little bit, but probably not that much. The devil is in the details. It is worth every penny of that if the car is immaculate, but you are going to have to go over every detail to see if everything is perfect. Point out every little imperfection that you can find and remind them that they are not a dealer if it is a private party sale. If it is on a lot point out all the little things you can and you will find stuff that the salesman never noticed (they sell a lot of cars and can't notice everything). If the car is not absolutely perfect everywhere then you need to talk them down a bit. I would say under $9k for the normal wear and tear. That means no dings or dents just a few rock chips in the paint. Also make sure all the seams line up perfect and are evenly spaced.

well thanks guys. I picked her up for 9K. The only thing wrong is the driver side window. Here's what's up: It rolls down fine. When I roll it up however, about half way up it makes a popping noise and goes back down. So I have to stop the window right before that point and then roll it up all the way. What's the deal? does it need a new motor? how much would that cost? is it easy to install? have you guys heard of this before? thanks and sorry for all the questions. everyone on this forum seems pretty friendly
