Well, if you didn't drive the vehicle, there is a possibility that it didn't directly hit the clutch (flywheel assy. wraps around similar to drum brakes shielding the clutch from liquid). I would remove the bottom bellhousing panel (in oilpan area...can't miss it) and just let everything drain out as completely as possible. Then, just stick a bunch of rags and let them soak up as much as possible.
Now, if your clutch DID get soaked (either by oil dripping down the back of the flywheel, or sitting in a pool of oil at the base), then you are looking at removing the transmission to replace the clutch, no easy answer here. Removing the transmission is relatively easy, just time consuming. A Bentley manual is very handy here. Also, don't let drunk people work on your vehicle. |

Didn't say if it was manual or auto. If it's automatic, it's got a torque converter, not a clutch, so it shouldn't have any effect other than the mess.
I don't know how the bearing seals would like that brake cleaner. Put a plug in the bellhousing so it doesn't spray under the hood and let it drip out on its own. Anyone who knows better, feel free to correct me. |
