the VR was a love/hate for me. I loved the sound/power, but after the 2.0 and the miles per week I drive it wasn't worth the gas bill for me so I sold it after a few months
then shortly after I picked up this disaster of a Mk4.
Specs
2000 Rave Green GTI 1.8t
128k miles
custom DP and exhaust with Borla muffler
Tint
Disgusting spray tinted taillights
Ugly Oettinger grille
this is probably the biggest project I've gotten myself into as far as bringing the car up to something that I'll really enjoy. If it was any other color I probably would have just passed, but RG is awesome!
The body has paint chips/somerust/clearcoatpeel/mismatchedshades
Interior was gross with ugly speakers and holes in the door panels where tweeters used to be.
PO chopped the shifter down to the floor and put on a gross knob
Boost gauge in a pod just wedged between the dash and the A pillar with the vacuum line ran through the door jam and through the fender
The engine bay was in just as bad shape with hoses everywhere some going to nothing and some janky wiring
onto some pictures..
you can kinda see the mis match color in the front fender compared to the door
clear on the roof
for some reason the PO decided to fill in the plate holes only TO DRILL MORE right next to the old ones:facepalm:
other that the stuff mention above the interior isn't too bad
ugly shifter/knob shifts like poop
how the gauge was wedged in
Sloppy bay (before)
random crap
for some reason they unhooked this hose and replaced it with a breather creating a nasty vac leak
started removing SAI junk and got some air tools and brillo pads and started on the IM and VC
looks alittle better...couldn't do much more while it was on the car
custom DP
installed the 034 Motorsport hose kit
also installed a AWP inlet pipe to run the 034 kit
then I noticed the MAF wiring was haggard and needed attention so I busted out the soldering gun and cleaned it up
here's everything that was removed
I ordered the Stage 1 ECS Suspension Revamp kit since the ball joints and outter tierods are toast
