Remove the plastic shielding the headlight. You'll be able to see the bracket and bolt holding the battery down to the battery tray. You'll more then likely need an extension in order to get to it.
Yup. If you've lost your radio code, most dealers can access it for you. However, they may $charge$ you for this.
I might be able to get it for you. You'll need to PM me with your VIN as well as your radio serial#(the radio must be removed from the dash to find the serial#). No promises on this, but I will try.
'Cept for 2002+ right? This is what I have heard. I only had my stock radio in for a few days before I took it out so I didn't get a chance to check though.

I'm fairly sure that the double-din radios(`02>) will lock up also. Each OEM radio type uses a different method for entering the codes, but they all will lock up on power loss. Maybe Carson could shed some light on this??
My 2001 single din Monsoon radio will remember my car, as long as its plugged in to my car...thanks to CAN-BUS, the ECM tells the radio its in its proper car, and will reactivate...I think 2000 and prior won't do that.
I took out my battery when I installed my CAI and my radio had no problem. I didnt even know about that...oh well. I have a 2000 gti btw.
