Default car not accelerating.....

I have a 2003 gti 1.8t with a b&m short shifter. I was driving my car the other day and it was not accelerating right In 3 gear at about 3100rpm it stays there for about 5-10seconds and begins to accelerate again and in 4th gear it does the same at 3000rpm and in 5th gear at about 2500rpm. I called the dealer and they said it may be the throttle body controller or the gearbox and will they void my warranty if i have the short throw shifter. Please help!!

I would scan it for codes and see if anything pops up. I just fixed a car at my job that broke both wastegate control lines, and the car was in limp mode...pretty much matches the lack of power that you are experiencing...but that isn't a certainity until you get it scanned.

how can 2 things that are not related void your warrenty? i dont get it. so u got a short shifter, what in the hell does the shifter have to do with a throttle body getting stuck or possibly gone bad? if you ask me they are trying to hose you dude. i would talk to the manager aboutthat load of crap. hey gtivr6, are those guys actually serious? i had better be careful then cause if my exhaust has a leak they will void my warrenty cause of my neons. gimme a break. anyway, sorry to hear about your troubles man. hopefully its nothing 2 serious. keep us posted.

It depends on your dealership and the mechanic that works on it. I personally have found a good dealership that doesn't give you crap about mods unless it is directly related to the part that broke. I know Carson's dealership is pretty good about it too.

Because it is letting go at a certain RPM, and it could very well be that your stock clutch is slipping (1.8T clutches are notorious for slipping). I think it may be your clutch, but I can't see why it would slip between 3k-5k or whatever and then finally grab at a higher RPM.

Oh, and how the heck would the gearbox have anything to do with it? I am going to assume that the dealer is thinking it may be the clutch as well, and that is what they are referring to as the "gearbox" problem.

3k is the peak torque on the engine. Look at the dynos in my sig link and that will explain it all.......
