Default Check Engine Light Diagnosis for AEG engine code

Check engine light is caused by:

Check Fuses 1st, 2nd chrck wiring, 3rd check the component. If all checks out then replace ECM (unlikely).

Heated 02 sensor (before cat) {sensor heater 1.0 - 5.o ohms at room temperatore}Tab on top 1st and 2nd connectors.

O2 sensor (after cat)

Maf sensor (intake plastic tube connected to filter box {4.5 v )

Throttle Valve Control Module (throttle body)

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (coolant hose, green or black)
-BLACK (tab up right most top and bottom connector bridge these, if indicator jumps to 141 degrees or -46.5 degrees Celsius, replace with green sensor) Resistance test left most connectors (same resistance of green).
-GREEN (tab down right most connectors nominal value 1.5 - 2.0 k ohm for 30 degree celsius. 275 - 375 ohm for 80 degree celsius.

Intake Air Temperature Sensor (component of MAF sensor) parking brake on. Tab up 1st and 3rd connector.
-30C should cause 1.5 to 2.0 k ohm.
-80C should cause 275 to 375 ohm

Check Engine Speed (RPM) Sensor (Right of oil dipstick, if engine will not start) Tab down, top and middle connector 480 -1000 ohm nominal resistance. Bottom and middle connector infinite resistance, bottom and top infinite resistance nominal, If other resistance is measured replace.

Fuel Injectors (injector rail, nominal resistance 14-18 ohms between connectors)

Fuel Pressure Regulator (nominal pressure 3.5 bar)

Oxidized connectors are a possible cause of engine control component trouble. Resolve this with CAIG's DEOXIT found at Cumberland Electronics in Harrisburg.

These are some of the most likely components to fail. This list gives a DIY'er a good place to start troubleshooting without the aid of an OBDII scan.
