Question Forge Splitter Installed. Oil on stock DV?

So I just went out and put in my splitter. It's a simple process so I just ran out and put it on real quick. I'm pretty sure I tuned it right. I've read that, since my car is all stock except for an intake, that it needed to be at 16 clicks. So I turned it all the way clockwise, then went counter clockwise 16 clicks.

Anyway, when I took off the stock DV it had oil on it. Not inside of it but around the outside where the hoses go on. So the oil was sitting between the rubber hose and the plastic of the valve. I've noticed lately that if I get on it a little, when I stop and get out, I can smell oil. It a faint smell but its there. I'm not sure if it still will be with this new valve. At first I assumed it may be burning oil that I may have spilled on the motor when I did the oil change, but I'm pretty sure I got it all wiped off.
Any ideas?

I had the forge splitter on when i bought the car, and replaced it with the stock DV and there was no oil on the splitter. I just now put the splitter back on and yup. oil. same place. pssst i think you are thinking there is oil on the hoses maybe? when i pulled the DV out, there was oil on the outside of the male end, or inside of the female end of the hoses.

if its only a bit of oil, i wouldnt worry about it. its probably just some oil making its way through the system.

could also be slight blow by from the turbo working its way back up the inlet pipe. and also you should notice slight oil more like a film inside the intercooler piping (totally normal)..

not to mention it could also be blow by from the pcv valve which is located near by. again.. normal.

but definately check the valve cover gasket. this could also be a good solution.. or just play it safe and change the valve cover gasket. its probably at most 30 bucks. you do not have to do an oil change if you just did one.. and simply takes a 10mm socket and small ratchet. its really easy.

It's been a while but I finally have my bay a once over. I've been busy lately working on my new house. No leaks anywhere from the valve cover.
