Exclamation Help! Jetta hit by lightning!

Looking at buying a 2000 jetta vr6 that was hit by lightning....all the computers have been replaced that were bad...including the cluster...immobilizer light flashes...car starts runs and shuts off...any opinions before I dive into an electrical nightmare lol...ecu was replaced, the comfort control module under the dash...I'm not entirely sure what all was replaced...all that's left "I think" is just that immobilizer because the cluster doesn't match the key...I have a VAG tool coming with the car...still needs an alternator abs module and evap solenoid...let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!!

I wouldn't touch it unless it was less than $500.

Yeah it blew the antenna off the car lol went down the rear window and hit the trunk...it melted about an inch long spot on the glass...that vag tool reads every computer so wiring is good...I work at autozone...I know most employees they hire are idiots lol but I'm pretty good at what I do...it's my store managers car...I don't think he's gonna screw me over...alarm goes off when you put the key in and turn it...immobilizer light flashes...it starts runs then shuts off...from what Volkswagen told me it sounds like the immobilizer needs reprogrammed...hours labor...80 bucks

Dont touch it. leave it be and find a different volkswagen mk4 that has no problems and hasnt been struck by lightning.

personally i think ur buying into an electrical nightmare that u will end up spending more than what u paid for the car first time u goto a mechanic.

just my .02

what they say, have to get it flashed at the dealership. took mine in 3 times now. its 150.00 each time if it works and if it doesnt. dont waste your money send the computer to an aftermarket like unitronic or what not and they remove it completely.

Bought the car...500 bucks 120k miles 5 speed...I'm thinking about sending it in...how long does it usually take? Black with Black and Tan leather...ecu...bcm...gauge cluster has been replaced...I'm picking the car up tomorrow after work...it's my bosses car so I don't think he'd try to screw me lol I gotta get to work...hooked the vag up to it and its connecting to everything just gets shut off by the immobilizer! Malone tuning does a stage 1 tune and deletes it...not sure where the best place to go would be...thanks for the input guys ill get pics ASAP! Lightning hit the antenna....blew it completely off the car lol...radio is fine though....went down the rear window and melted about an inch long strip about as wide as a sharpie in the window by the 3rd brake light then took a tiny notch out of the trunk where it touches the outside trim below the window! Everything seems fine though...the tach and another gauge were kinda twitching the other night...could be because I had jumper cables hooked to the car I suppose alternator and battery need replaced :/

Your IMMO is preventing the car from
Starting. Did you say you changed the cluster and ECU? If so you need to get the PIN from the ECU and sync them or the IMMO will defeat you all day. That v-checker is only good to pull generic codes. What codes are you getting currently.

Call me stupid but I can get it to connect to the ecu...I have no idea how the thing works...first time I've ever worked on a vw...I'm pretty good at this stuff usually lol this things got A LOT of computers...how do I get that pin? It shows some immobilizer function on the scanner (super vag)...another weird thing...it's got the monsoon stereo...the rear door speakers don't work but the tweeters do...cd changer in the back doesn't either radio just says (error). Guy I got it from had it connected to the ecu and said the evap solenoid and abs mod had a (short to ground)...all the windows work if you use the switch on each door....driver side switch won't do it...locks are the same way...if I use the key in the door it only locks or unlocks the driverside...thanks for all the help and input guys!

All of this^^^^ is why i said this:

You have inherited a complete mess.

Now that i said that, what has been changed since it was struck by lightning?

Cluster?
ECU?
Comfort control module?

First thing i would do is this, Your dealership is saying it would be $80 to reprogram the immo, do that first then see where you are with the door locks, windows, and radio. sounds like a CCM issue, door switch issue, or the radio which this all is connected to is malfuntioning.

your V checker device can not perform the functions you need to do with the IMMO. Period.
