Default i-Pod Adaptor

Hi,
I am after an I-Pod connector for my GTi Anniversary. It has a Radio, Cassette and built in front loading 6 CD changer. I have been to my local dealer who can supply the part but they have said that if I use the VW part then it will render my CD changer useless as the adaptor uses the same port as the the changer needs. Is there a part available that lets me use both the CD changer and the I-pod together? All help really appreciated as I am not well up on my audio stuff!

Check out www.enfigmotorsports.com, if there's something made to do that, they'll have it.

there is a good production--XCarLink
this adapter makes iPod or MP3 as a CD changer, and play iPod
or MP3 through car
audio system, it does not use FM transmitter, but wire connection.
(Plug into the CD changer port of the Head Unit). Once it is equipped,
you can choose music of iPod or USB disk from the car stereo's buttons
or steering wheel controls,
For example,
1 choose playlist from iPod
2 Select songs by Next or Previous
3 Multi Play mode: Repeat, Random, Scan
4 Charge function

this kind of iPod car adapter is wonderful, it can make you control the iPod by the car audio such as the CD botton or even the steering wheel. its brand is XCarLink, and you can search it in google etc

I think it is useful. If anything what to know, you can ask me.

Just out of interest - why would you want a CD changer if you have an iPod.

When I got my Dension kit fitted I just unplugged my CD-Changer (well I had to) but I certainly didn't miss it!

I've got about 5000 tracks on the iPod so I certainly don't need a CD changer!

I agree. You'll have all the songs on the ipod, so why the hell would you still need the changer? It took me 6 months to convince my girlfriend of taht, now she forgets she ever had the changer.

If you get the OEM one you can have them install it but you're better off getting an aftermarket one, it's way easier. I've installed a couple of them on MK5s and it was very easy, not sure about the MK4...I'd imagine the only difference is there's no radio key needed for teh MK5...
