How have I not seen this thread before? Good stuff man, waiting for turbo and manifold upgrades though.
I have started sagging in a couple parts of my headliner which may speed up my headliner wrap if i find a nice pront i loke that matches my grey/black interior or maybe just a full black interior swap.

the headliner material was i believe a ford oe fabric? i picked it out of a book from keyston at work, the name of the fabric is black ink prismatic.
i have a couple goodies about my build that are still under wraps that no one will know about, and i keep changing the plans so quick no one knows exactly whats happening but i plan on making a time lapse vid of the entire build though, from the first bolt being taken out of the short block to strip it for machine work to the first start up when its all said and done. turbo and mani upgrades will come in time... the price that i got the entire kit for was an absolute steal... 150 bucks and helping the kid change the clutch in his mk4... for the entire setup.. the setup may have a few changes though, ive got another precision under wraps that may or may not go on instead of the one posted, and im going to eventually get a tubular mani for it..
so far its building on a budget over here, but this build is being done on basically a high school kids budget in my parents garage from start to finish

ok thanks, the only part im most likely going to need a hand with will be assembling the motor and putting it all together.
i think itll be a good story for the car when i bring it to shows and shit because the only thing im paying to have done is the machine work cause i cant do that, but everything else including paint and body is going to be done by me.
the plans right now are to have the build and paint and body done for the drive to sowo2013, ive got plenty of time id like to have it running for a month or two before sowo to iron out any kinks and make me feel a little more comfortable taking it on the 800 mile journey

it feels less sluggish out of boost with the fsi coils, the idle also feels smoother with them. and the shifter bushings tightened up a lot of slop i thought was normal in the shifter

yeah, theyre the fsi coilpacks from the 2.0t. this was because one of my coils went and i had to borrow one of my friends, so i figured why not, im gonna buy these for the build at some point anyway.
but next on the list will most likely be pistons, and all the seals, bearings, gaskets and all the other miscellaneous shit to get the block machined and pistons and rods put in, rings gapped, etc.
ive got a long road ahead of me, but so far everything looks like i will be on schedule for having it running and broken in for sowo in may. fingers crossed!

so i took advantage of IE's black friday sale and grabbed a couple build parts while i could
will have some better pics hopefully later in the week, im going to paint the mani pearl white and see how it will hold up, if the paint doesnt hold up ill just send it out to get it powdercoated.
little update with the fsi coils, ran into a rough idle problem and traced it down to a section of my map wiring, re did the wiring and now it idles and runs smoother than any other 1.8 ive seen
