Default misfire

i'm having misfiring problems with my 2000 jetta 1.8t. it has 100,000 miles on it. it seems to mainly misfire between 2000 - 3000 rpm when you accelerate. i had someone check the engine and it came up with a misfire on the # 2 cylinder with multiple misfires. what could be the problem. i was going to start with plugs.

thanks

When's the last time the plugs were changed? Could be that but the most common thing that would cause that is the coilpacks.
