Default MK4 or Mk5
I have a 2005 VW Jetta GLS 2.0L Turbocharged
i don't know if it's a Mk4 or Mk5 it has no emblems besides the Jetta one,
how can i tell witch one i have.
heres a pic of it

this is a mk4 the mk 5 is a completely different car looks allot different...

It is a mk4 with the 2.0 na engine. Not turbocharged.

Of if its turbocharged, the engine cover may say 20v Turbo. 20 valves, but its a 1.8L.

looks like a gli.... so it might be a 1.8t

i went to a VIN decoder website and it told me its a 2.0 GLS, and the engine cover has a 2.0, and i don't know if the turbo came with it or if it was added by a different owner but it has turbo. No where on the internet can i find parts for a 05 GLS 2.0 With turbo, theirs only a 2005 1.8 GLS or 2004 2.0 GLS.

can it be that my car is one of those 2004.5?

can you post a pic of the motor?


well if its a 2.0 any part for the 2.0 should work for it, except for what the turbo replaced.

maybe it is one of those weird models... like the 99.5's that still had the older motors and transmission and linkadge.

Open your drivers door. Look at the sticker on the door jam below the striker. It will have the build date. You car is a mk4. Doubt it has a turbo but its possible someone added it. Pics of the engine bay and the "turbo" would be awesome.

i wonder if it was one of those dealer upgrades... like they still had it on the lot and changed it to an 05.

i had a 66a mustang witch was an in between year.

doesnt the GLI sit a little lower though? doesnt look like one to me.. and why would anyone replace the stock BBS with the ones it has on now?
