do they test for emissions where you live or do they just look to see if you have a cat? if they just look to see if its there just leave the gutted cat. and those blue silicone vac lines you have arent to good. if i was you i would replace them with regular black ones from like auto zone. those silicone vac lines heat up and expand and when you get in boost you can blow them off real easy and they will vacuum shut sometimes.

do I just go to autozone and get any ol vac lines? Do I just cut them to size? Whats wrong with those? How do you know they are bad?

I believe they test for emissions pretty hard here, but honestly have no idea really... :/

So does anyone know what might need to be adjusted to get the hood lined up properly?

more then likely.. hood was off at one point.. if u get a helping hand.. another person.. basically.. each take half the hood.. i think the hinges are adjustable.. and u can shimmy the hood aroudn to make it clasp properly.

YOur front end has been replaced IMO, both fenders and hood are all misaligned. loosen the upper fender bolts and adjust them first while the hood is up to gap properly atound your grille and headlights, then the hood need loosened and adjusted as well. GL, it takes a few guys and some patience/test fitting while still holding the parts in place.

where exactly are these adjustment bolts? A simple description (what they are near) would suffice but pics are always helpful. I dont have my bentley's manual yet

Not VW, but basic idea of what you will need to do:

How To Align A Fender

here is a description of bumper alignment:

VWvortex Forums: just posting for the diy post

There should be "play" in all bolt locations (bolt size is smaller than the aread that it goes through for fender and hood hinges, by loosening the bolts and shimmy the panels around until it fits right, use universal sized(nonpaint damanging) shims to make all gaps correct.

could be that your bumper is causeing all issues and it just needs to be reinstalled, can't really tell from the pics which is off, but i would try to take the bumper cover/grille off and reinstall it first if your hood/fender and door/fender gaps are all uniform and good.

Gl!

In the bentley's manual it says to apply "anti-rust" stuff (lol) to the bolts, which makes sense, but what type of anti-rust treatment; is it just spray on stuff?
