Default New Owner/Questions/Info

I traded a 1997 GMC Sierra for a 2000 VW Golf. V8 for 4 cylinder. Automatic for 5-Speed. and I got 1500 boot!

Since buying the car a week ago, I've put:
-pads and rotors all the way around ((the (0) light was on))
-changed the oil
-taken off what was left of the front air dam, (half was ripped off thanks to mall parking lot)
-driver's door latch (alarm kept coming on)
-Lysol all over the interior (last owner had a dog)
-Cleaned all the door jambs
-Claybar the entire body

2000 VW Golf GLS 5-Door 2.0 5-Speed

It needs:
-glove box (broken)
-center console (broken)
-front ashtray(don't smoke, but it's missing)
-rear ashtray(again, missing)
-front airdam
-EXHAUST MANIFOLD
-VW Alloy Wheels

The CEL is on. I know the reason being is the exhaust mainfold is damaged. But, if I replace the manifold with a header, WILL THIS HURT MY GAS MILEAGE? If so, should I buy a new manifold, or weld the existing manifold. The break is on the flange where the manifold meets the exhaust itself. It looks to be e]weldable since the manifold is broken on the weld itself.

The ABS is on. The CodeScanner reads Left Front Speed Sensor INOP. How do I fix this?

PLEASE HELP.

I don't believe you can put headers on golf's or jetta's. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You can put them on a 2.0, but the gains will be negligible. Your best bet is to either weld it or just buy a used manifold.

yeah, im new to this so there's still a lot to learn. im a certified toyota technician, but i no longer work on cars for a living. i asked the guy at the local dealership and he suggested the header. i need to know how much gas mileage ill lose. would that make the car sound like shit if i do a header and stock exhaust. im not really customizing and i hate the bigass exhaust, i just want to make it right.

another question.

does every VW smell terrible? i mean, ive only ridden in a couple, but this thing seems sooooo sealed. i brought a pizza home on friday. took the motorcycle out saturday, and got in the car on sunday afternoon, and it smelled like pizza. haha i dunno.
