Default newbie! ?'s about buying a 1.8T

this is my first post and am wondering about any possibe issues with an 04 Jetta GLS 1.8T, anything I should be aware of with the turbo motor or anything else with these cars? This one is a 5spd car w/70K miles very clean, leather heated seats, monsoon and 17's. I can get it for about 10K would this be a good deal? and what would be realistic MPG? Thanks for any input. Chris.

that's a lot of miles. I'm sure everyone will tell you the coilpacks, o2 sensor, and maf sensor are problematic but I'm not even sure if that's still true with the '04's.

Most of that was squared away by 2004. That's not a lot of miles at all, and a good price. I'd go for it. You can get low 30's on the highway and mid 20's in the city. It can vary a lot in a turbo car, depends how you drive it.

thanks! I'm going to drive it this afternoon and shake her down and see what happens. If everything is cool I'll probably get it. My Ram w/Hemi gets about 14.5 mpg w/the wife driving so if I can double that w/this car it will pay for itself.

I just bought an '04 with 40k so I think that's a lot of miles.

Depends on how much you each spent, per given mileage.
