what does p1255 mean? my car won't run

Replace the coolant temp sensor. $10 part @ advance or autozone. If that for some reason doesn't fix the issue then trace the wiring and you should find a break in the wiring possibly. Car won't run or runs like crap because it is flooding itself with this code. It thinks it needs to give to much fuel to help warm it up on high idle but it never gets to that point.

Yeah that code is for engine coolant sensor short to ground.
