popping noise when i make a turn

i have a 2002 gti and whenever i make a right hand turn i hear a pop come from around the front left wheel area. i was told that it was probably the ball bearing and i replaced it but it still makes the noise. any suggestions on what to do next? thanks all.

Strut bearing or cv joint. Is it a single pop or 2? or is a constant clicking when the vehicle is moving thru a turn?

It's a single pop and will only do it like when I am making a right turn around 10 to 25 Mphs. So it can be eithe one of the two that you said?

from my experience, that does not sound like a CV joint problem. I would expect more that a single pop from a CV joint on occassion.

Sounds more like a strut bearing. Cv joint is constant clicking thru a turn.

Jack up ur left hand side of the car.. grab ur left axle.. shimmy it back and forth.. is it loose? does it pop?? if so its cv joint and buy the whole axle assembly.. its 40 dollars more and easier to install.. dont forget the special tool from ecstuning.com

now. as far as strut bearings.. pop off the plastic caps on ur shock towers. have a friend watch the plastic bearing/bearing cup as u turn the wheel back n forth. they should both turn on both sides. if one hangs up or pops and jerks its strut bearing.

wheel bearing would be a constant humming sound. not a pop/crack.
does it do it when you pull out?
