Default restoring old engine mounts.

by taking your old worn stock engine mounts and filling them with a polyurethane to restore them. been searching around about ordering new engine mounts and a local guy filled his with a polyurethane caulk. made them stiffer and pretty much restored them. this would cost about $10 or so.

another option is using 3m window weld. this seems to be very popular with the honda dsm crown up to diesel truck owners. cost is about $8

end result.

another option is going all out and getting flexane 80 or 94 and mixing it up and molding your own or filling the mounts. cost is around $50. kinda hard to find. this is probably way more durable and can be very stiff.

filled with flexane

i am going to try the polyurethane caulking first. i really want to go with the flexane 80 but dont feel like waiting. i will keep this updated on what i do.

Interesting. I am planning to either go VF mounts or PC mine and go BFI mount inserts.

This definitly sound more cost effective for some members though.

bought some loctite polyurethan sealant today. 2 tubes for $15. filled a socket up with the stuff. want to see how strong/stiff it is. probably doing the engine mounts this weekend. also the idea popped in my head about adding this to standard control arm bushings. you could fill in the gaps and make your own R32 bushings.

I fear for the density not being right and crumbling out.

the flexane is the best bet. 94 flexane is the same durometer as a hockey puck. 80 would be perfect. thats the average stage 2 mount. im going to try this loctite stuff first. already have a used set of engine mounts lined up to use the flexane on. im cheap what can i say. plus i love making parts. i was actually contemplating on making my own engine mounts. i have some thick steel plate that is going to be used for engine mount spacer. might make some mounts to try out. have to source bushings though. i might order a energy suspensions catalog to find something that i might be able to make work.

I have thought of that as well, looking at them i think i could make a set myself and not end up paying $300 for them.

Let me know what you want for your old set of mounts after you pull them.

so i yanked my engine mounts out this morning. i ended up buying the 3m window weld and going to try this. the poly stuff from lowes takes like a month to dry. im going to fill these today and hope they are done by monday.

before you pump them full of the stuff you use to stiffen them, be sure to clean them up good.

you can see how open they are. this will all be filled.
trans. mount.

passenger side.
