man here is the deal for the money/performance ratio 1.8t all the way.... but there is something that the 1.8t dosnt have that the VR6 does and it is hard to explan exactly what it is because the #'s are there showing them to be close to the same #'s (HP/TQ) but the driving experiance is totaly different/ in a VR6 you know that your power is on tap in every RPM and dosent drop much in shifts. The torqe curve is as flat as a chinese stripper in shanghi and the power delivery is just so amazing plus the sound of that raspy 2.8L VR6 just pounding out those ponys... so all in all man if you arnt woried about those .032323 second ET differences go ahead and stick with your tryed and true VR6

i'd say hit the new gli! if you ever drive in a 1.8t you'll most likely convert like a lot of people have. the vr6 is a great engine with a nice exhaust note to it but the 1.8t is just a great base with a lot of potential that won't burn a hole in your pocket.

plus the new gli is beautiful. imo it's worth all the 23k!

Blue Lagoon is available on the new GLI, not Galactic Blue....they discontinued BL, but brought it back for the GLI.

Man stay with the VR6... if you want to be turbo shell out the $5000 for the EIP turbo and be sitting at 400hp... end of story... it is expensive but worth it... the VR6 is a god sent for VW

Drive both within a short time period to compare power... remember the 1.8t dosnt have hte kick stock that the VR6 will but it has a six speed... just do whatever makes you happy to be honest there will be times no matter what you picked that you wish you would have gotten the other but there both great cars and ya cant go wrong with a V-dub
