Default Suspension creaking and knocking

Does anybody know why my mk4 1.6 S auto creaks and knocks even over small bumps, it sounds like the suspension creaking and whats the best way to stop it. It has done this since about a month after buying it and used to be worse in hot dry weather but now its just all the time.

do those cars run front sway bars? if they do i'd put money that it's the mounting bracket inserts, once weathered/worn they can produce a nasty creeek

Could be the upper strut mounts...it's common.

Just get a friend and a can of spray lube and have him/her bounch each of the corners while you get down next to the suspension and listen. I've had a creak/knock happen when one of the springs was rubbing and just needed some lube to make it stop. If you can reproduce it by bouncing the car you can usually feel the part that is making the noise vibrate.

hey this might be a little late but it could also be caused by you bushings, they could be dry rotted or just need to be replaced
