He said he wants to go almost 2" lower than stock, that can easily be done with coilovers. And how would pictures help here? We all know what lowered Mk4's look like...definitely no need for air suspension for <2" of lowering.

Exactly, most coilovers for MK4's will get you just as low as most of the airbag set-ups available(in the states

)I know I'm well beyond a 2" drop on my car

If you are gonna go real low you must address the swaybar rubbing issue and even(in my case)the occasional axle hitting the subframe issue. Really the only true advantage of bags over coils on MK4's is the on-the-fly adjustability you get with bags. Both will lower the car about the same.
