I've just got my Golf back from a major service done at a local VW specialist and they have come back and said the following could do with some attention.
Just wondering what the thoughts of whether these things are worth doing and if any of them are particularly expensive jobs? I do about 10/12k a year so would rather be on the safe side...
- Undertray damaged
- Rear axle bushes worn
- Front discs corroded (but pads are OK)
- Radiator corroded
- CV boots perished but not split
- Exhaust mount centre broken
- Rear break pipes corroded
- Undertray damaged, I wouldent worry about it, i think there just referring to the plastic tray. (but im not positive)
- Rear axle bushes worn These you might notice a ride quality improvement if you fix them.
- Front discs corroded (but pads are OK) This is fine as long as you dont notice any Loss of braking power
- Radiator corroded I think there just trying to get your money. I havent heard of this just breaking or being a problem.
- CV boots perished but not split Another thing with the terms there throwing, It sounds like the rubbers bad but the not cracked open?? wouldent worry about it untill you feel or hear it especialy around corners.
- Exhaust mount centre broken This either means the ruber part of it is bad or the metal itself has busted. the ruberpart is like 6 bucks at the auto parts store. If its the exaust that broke but its still in good shape get it welded back on for 20 bucks at a local shop.
- Rear break pipes corroded I have no idea what a brake OR break Pipe is?
It sounds like they are after a bit of money to me and no doubt it would be very expensive to get it all fixed. It's an 02 reg so I'm not really expecting it to be in tip top condition, just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything dangerous etc!
Only bought it 2 weeks ago and I must say I love the way it drives!!!
Yea they are a blasst to drive im gonna be driving one we have sitting around, because I have to fix my diff in my 03 gli. :P Its a 2.sloww but there not bad just a big steep down from what Ive been used to.
