Hi Guys,
I know there are a ton of posts about aftermarket Radio Installations for MK4 Golfs, but I cannot find a whole lot of information about the Golf City.
I've got a 2010 Golf City and want to install an aftermarket DoubleDin Stereo. My own research has led me to believe I need the following:
Metra 70-1784 Radio Wiring Harness for Audi 88-99/Volkswagen 80-Up
Metra 40-VW54 VW Amplified Antenna Adapter
Metra 95-9012 Double DIN Installation Dash Kit for Select 1999-2005 Volkswagen Golf, GTI, Jetta, and Passat (Black)
My understanding is then I would do the following:
1) Connect the radio harness to the metra harness matching the colours except for the Red wire.
2) Connect the blue wire from the amplified antenna adapter to the blue wire of the radio harness
3) Remove the Stock Radio
4) Install the dash kit
5) Run a wire from the 75x terminal to the red wire on the metra harness
6) Connect Everything up
Now there are some forums which suggest that for the MK4 golfs i may need to remove a pin from the metra harness, something to do with the k-line. I have also heard that when I take the car for an emissions test, that I will need to re-install the stock radio.
Let me know if this looks right!
Thanks,
Razaan
