I was just messing with you man. Weigh your options out. If your looking for better gas mileage go with the 1.8t. They are easily upgradeable for more power too. The vr6 has more potential for horsepower if you go forced induction, and the vr6 sounds amazing. Your best option is to just go test drive both and decide from experience.

The VR6 is a natural aspirated engine and the 1.8T well, is not. You would have more play room with the 1.8T I think. Raw power, the VR6.

Miss. Lippys car is green, Billy likes to drink soda.

The 24v vr6 is a much better engine IMO, I always hated driving 1.8ts.

I drive a 1.8T and if I could trade it for a Golf/Jetta VR6, I would in a heartbeat (24v for sure at least). Don't get me wrong the 1.8T is fun and all but when you look at the list of mods you can do, at the end of the day all you have is a chipped 1.8t that does about 220whp with lots of bolt on's. It's really what you prefer...personally I'd rather have a Vr6 with a stage 1 or 2 turbo charger or supercharger and like omfg said, get that beefy growl that accompanies the VR6

What if you dont plan on modding the VR6 for forced induction? Would you all still go for the VR6 vs the 1.8T assuming the only mods to be done to each would be exhaust, chip, and intake? Which would be faster with just these mods?

With thos mods, the vr6 would be faster...
the 1.8t's are pretty slow unless you tweak the turbo or put a better one on.
that and you just cant beat the raw power that the 24v vr6 puts out.

This can go on forever it just all depends on u and ur plans for the car if u wanna go forced induction might as will go for the 1.8t and just upgrade to a k04 ~ 240hp 270 tq or a gt28 easy 300hp 300tq...to get that less then 4gs yet a vr6 can get the same with a supercharger but 4500 easy to get that power(plz correct me if im wrong, in not up to date with vr6s). idk if the vr6 become less reliable if u supercharge it but all i know id for the 1.8 u wanna upgrade the clutch if u go wit a gt28 or bigger but no prob. wit the motor

1.8t nevar loses...torque is key. If you dont want to mod your car all out, but want decent power..the 1.8t is the way to go..I mean chipping it just makes it a beast. You will have both sides saying each model..BUT in the end 1.8t is the better buy.

haha i stomp 1.8t's all the time. they're not fast...and the turbo lag is outragious.
unless you upgrade the turbo and put some money in them they are slow.
and if you want to force induction the vr6 go with a turbo, not a supercharger, you will get more out of the turbo.
If you plan on just putting in little upgrades like chip and intake and exhaust go with the vr6...it will be faster than the 1.8t and more reliable.
The 1.8t's are good cars IF you plan on making a racer for cheap (cheaper than a vr6).
but if you want a daily driver that has balls the vr6 is the way to go.

No offence to 1.8t drivers.

Like vwjet03 said...your going to have vr6 drivers and 1.8t drivers saying theirs are better.
just go out and drive both and then decide.

Mmmhmm, a little turbo the size of my fist has outrageous turbo lag...

Weight is of course NEVER an issue with cars

It's not like for close to or a little bit more than 1000$ you can get an incredible amount of power for the dollarout of a 1.8t...chip...turboback...diverter valve...

That being said 1.8T's are too common for the mods...what I said just above here is usually what most 1.8T's do + a few other bolt on's, if you really wanna stick money into a car a VR6 is the way to go.
