Default beetle brake light switch

so i have a beetle. and i have replaced the brake light switch going on four times now in the last three years. My epc light came on today again, and when i turned my engine off and got out of my car, my brake lights were still on (and are still on now, almost 12 hours later)... so has anyone else had this problem? and what does it take to get the brake lights to function properly? or to get vw to make a good part when they recall something?
