car just dies, then picks back up

Having a major problem while driving and the car just dies, totally then picks back up as if nothing happened. Have total loss of power, no idiot lights, nothing. It's like you turn the key off then back on. Its getting worse. Doesn't matter what speed you are doing. Checked fuses on left side of dash, all ok. It only totally died once, other times it will pick back up while driving. Starts back up too. Also, lost the beep sound when gas is low / and when you let the lights on after turning off ignition. Are there other fuses to check? 2000 New Beetle, 1.8 TURBO AUTOMATIC
