Default How do I replace airbag LIGHT?

Car: 02 New beetle TDI

Local garage says the LIGHT for the airbag/seatbelt indicator needs replaced. I can either have them do it then drive 2 hours to a vw dealer for an airbag light reset, or I can drive 2 hours and have vw do it with a reset.

I would rather replace the light myself then just drive to vw for the reset as I cannot afford the quoted price. How do I replace the airbag light?

Thank you.

I found the below quote in the following thread:

Jetta Trek 96 problems

1) Will this work with the 02 new beetle once I have managed to replace the bulb?
2) Is this free software or paid software?

Thanks.

I thought I'd post a follow up.

I found someone who does body work who exchanged a bit of auto labor for computer repair labor.

He checked out my light. When I got it back the airbag/seatbelt light was on. He said I'd have to take it to dealer for a light reset.

Having found the thread I referenced earlier, I checked on ebay for a vag-com cable and got one for 21 dollars free shipping. Downloaded the software they suggested (for free), and it reset my light.

I still don't know how to replace the light if it happens again but I thought I'd share my success over all, especially with the vag-com cable and software.
