Default How hard is it to change a clutch and flywheel?

99 VW Beetle 1.9 TDI manual tranny front wheel drive....

How hard/in depth is it to change the clutch and tranny. Im pretty good with cars/trucks but never done a clutch/flywheel and dont know much about VW's. I have done gears, rebuilt a motor, etc in other vehicles but nothing like this with the bug....

Mechanic wants around $1200 parts/labor. If its not SUPER hard Im going to attempt myself to save $600.

PS I hate this car and am selling it after I fix it LOL
