Unhappy Immobilizer probems

My 2002 Turbo Beetle has been immobilized. I am told the only way to get my car back on the road is to take it to a dealer. The closest dealer is a 12 hr ferry ride and 5-8hr tow to anchorage AK. I talked with a Ross-Tech dealer about a Vag-com unit. My problem now is that I need the 4 digit secrete pin code to use the Vag-com unit. I have talked with dealers in Alaska, Wahington and even Volkswagon of America-no one can help. Does anyone have a solution cheaper than the $1500 ferry ride and tow? Please help. Helpless in Kodiak

What 4 digit pin code do you need? Do you have a Vag-Com?

Default Immobilizer Problems

I spoke with a Ross-Tech sales person about the Vag-com unit. I was told that the unit would not work unless I knew the 4 digit pin code. Do you think he might be mistaken about needing the secrete 4 numbers. I was told by a VW dealer that they do not use the code numers anymore, and it is nearly impossible to get them. The Dealer plugs into the main VW data base to reprogram the keys. I'm getting desperate to figure this out. I may have to sell my car because it is too expensive to transport my vehicle to Anchorage if this continues to happen.
