Default Oil pressure light coming on at idle

Hello. I am new here and tried to search this site but I was not having any luck. We have 2002 Beetle and oil pressure warning light comes on when we come to stops. It beeps a few times and then goes off and stays off. Sometimes this will go on with every stop and sometimes it goes away. I am struggling finding the pressure switch. I think I may have found it but it is under all the intake manifold pieces. This car has the 1.8L turbo.

I spent a horrible amount of time removing the engine crank position sensor only to find out it was not the oil pressure sensor.

The other problem we have is water coming in. The floors get soaked, both passenger and drivers side after driving in the rain. We can not seem to locate the source. Is this a common problem?

Thanks for your help.
Jason

I don't think the pressure switch is your oil light problem. You may try replacing it first, but a much more common problem with the 1.8 is restriction in the oil pump pickup tube. You would need to pull the oil pan and remove and inspect the tube. They are pretty inexpensive if this is the case. My guess on the leak issue would be sunroof drains. Make sure the drain tubes are not plugged with debris.

I have the same problem with my girlfriends 03 beetle, this car has been the biggest money pit i've ever dealt with... i've brought the car to a vw tech guy who has worked on these car for a long time . we spent 1300 on the car last in december to fix our first issue of the pump tube being clogged because of non synthetic oil use, everything was cleaned and running good after that.... about 3 weeks ago oil light came on, brought the car in and supposidly was the oil pressure switch... he replaced it and said the switch was leaking oil somehow so he did that and changed the oil, dude charged us 201 with labor .... bullshit because the parts totalled only about 71 bucks. the weekend after the car was fixed which was only 3 days later the oil light came on about 7 or 8 times that day.... brought the car in and now hes saying the oil is leaking into the turbo and catl. said it will be getting worse as time goes on.... he switched out the pressure switch for free and checked the sending tube and everything checked out, and pretty much told me he didn't want to work on the car again because of my girlfriend had flipped out on the second visit. now just the other day it came on again twice... don't know what to do besides stick it out and trade it in next month when the car is paid off

I would recommend finding a VW/Audi specialist. Oil pressure switches are rarely the cause of the oil light on 1.8's. Could very well be an oil pump issue if there was previous sludging. Sorry, very difficult to diagnose beyond general terms.
