corrado 1.8 16v ps pump help 1990

hi guys, i finally got round to fitting my new ps pump, i lined up the pump with the old one just to make sure and its spot on, but after fitting and tensionin, i noticed the v belt was about 2-3mm out of line with the top pulley's, but now i cant remember if my old one was like that, is there meant to be a spacer behine the pulley or is it just me,??? really need help guys
