Default Corrado mutilation

Hey all,

I was pokeing around the forums and i saw that the SC on these cars tend to give up the ghost at some point or another so i was wondering if u guys could offer up some suggestions for an engine swap. i saw lots of talk about VR6 swap, how much power does it put out? and is it a strong conversion or will it just be dissapointing? (mind u right now im driving an E36 BMW M3.)

Well once my twisted got working on engine swaps and such i started thinking about the drivetrain. what would it take to turn this sucker into an AWD or rear wheel drive car? i appreciate any and all input! thanks!

The supercharger only "gives up" if it isn't maintained properly. They need to be rebuilt, of at least have the belt changed, around every 70k miles.

VR swap would probably be the easiest, other than putting a turbo on the PG. The VR's put out about 170ish stock, and a VRT can do an easy 300+.

As far as AWD or RWD, AWD is easier. There is one front engine RWD VRT at this time and I know that he had to over come many hurdles. The AWD isn't as bad though, you need a syncro pan and drive line for that. If you look at vwvortex there is some good info on there.

Any MK3, B3 or B4 Passat, or a VR Corrado, the engines are all the same. But I think that you would need the subframe from a Corrado or a MK3, I think the Passat ones might be a little different..then again I could be wrong about that...Those are the ones that would be easiest, but you could always do a 24v if you wanted to be a total badass.

I had a 94 passat and the vr would bolt right into the G60 but I have been told that I would need a vr corrado subframe to do the job proper.

Default mk3

trying to find a corrado scl to get the swap out of is nearly impossable. your best bet is a mk3 jetta/gti. id go with the later years with the coilpack (mid 93 up) not the dis. (early 93 and older) ive had a few of both and i like the coilpack my self. and then you need to know if its obd1 or obd2 the obd1 has the egr valve. and the obd2 has the smoge pump if you do it good luck its alot of fun and money.
