Default Door handles

Ok, so my brother just got his Corrado back (has had it in the shop for ummm... almost 10 years) Don't ask, the shop closed down... blah, blah, blah. (Black SLC pretty much stock) Anyway, I detailed the car, put him on to the Forum. I kind of work for him and now he understands where my $$$$ go. I go to his Crib, he's like ummmm.... I'm going to chang this, that, and that. I send him links to some fresh VWs and now he's turning into one of us. Plus his pockets are nice soooooo Can't wait to see what he does with it so I can post some pix.

Oh yeah, his door handles won't work. He has to get in the car from the trunk. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? They pull back, but won't open the car. I was thinking that b/c the car had been sitting so long maybe the mechanism inside is locked up. What do you think?
